The traditional Grand Ball reaches its XXIII edition, in close collaboration with theCivic Museum of the Risorgimento, the Municipality of Bologna, the Quartiere Santo Stefano.

120 dancers of 8cento, in historical costumes, perform Valzer, Quadriglie, Mazurke and Polke according to choreography of the nineteenth century in a screenplay specially created for the occasion.

The event will re-enact the period 1849-1859, and the Grand Ball will be an opportunity to discover some aspects of the daily life of the Bolognese society of the time.

For the occasion, the Civic Museum of the Risorgimento will make an extraordinary opening with free admission from 7.00 pm to 11.00 pm, with two guided tours, also free, at 7.30 pm and at 10.00 pm.

The duration of the event is about an hour and a quarter.


The artistic direction is curated by Alessia Branchi, artistic director of 8cento.


In case of bad weather the Ball will take place in the same way on Sunday 26 May.
